CASUAL SILENCE

Back with a bang!

The Dutch band Casual Silence was formed in 1993 and quickly developed into a symphonic progressive rock band, performing mainly original material consisting of melodic compositions and autobiographical lyrics. In the first 18 years of their musical career, the band released no fewer than six studio albums: ‘Bad Side Memories’ (1997); the mini CD ‘Shamelessly Dressed’ (1999); ‘Once in a Blue Moon’ (2003); ‘Lost In Life’ (2007, featuring Damian Wilson); the acoustic cover CD ‘Acoustic Fields’ (2009) and, last but not least, ‘Vertical Horizon’ (2011, produced by Joost van den Broek). In addition, the live DVD ‘Live In A Blue Moon’ was released in 2004.

Casual Silence’s musical development during that period led to national and international performances, with the band sharing the stage with major acts such as Epica,Focus, Alquin, Kayak, Jadis, Landmarq, The Watch, Pain of Salvation, Arena and Saga. Under the motto ‘quit while you’re ahead’, in 2011, shortly after the CD release of the album Vertical Horizon, the band called it a day and each member went their separate ways musically, though without ever really losing touch with one another.

Since bloodis thicker than water, the band members got back in touch in the autumn of2021 and decided to breathe new life into Casual Silence. How wonderful it is to make music together again as friends! The lads from Casual Silence experienced this first-hand when they made their ‘comeback’ on 2 December 2022 in their hometown Helmond. With an electrifying ‘reunion’ show, they once again captured themusical hearts of their fans, heralding a new era for Casual Silence.

A new era in which old and familiar songs were interwoven with plenty of new material and a new band logo. In March 2026, the band released their new EP ‘My Hollow Years’. A self-produced mini CD featuring four brand-new songs. And with that, Casual Silence is back again on the Dutch prog scene!
