Egdon Heath

Egdon Heath are back. Or perhaps they never really left. Thirty years after 'Nebula', the band releases a brand-new album in December 2026, entitled 'Spring The Past Alive'.

Some bands call it a day. Others carry on under a different name. And some, looking back, turn out to have taken nothing more than a long break. Egdon Heath have done all three.

By the end of 1999, it looked as though the curtain had fallen on the Dutch progressive rock band. After four studio albums and a double live album, drummer Valère Wittevrongel, keyboard player Wolf Rappard and vocalist Maurits Kalsbeek decided to call it a day. Twenty years was enough. The remaining three members — Jaap Mulder, Aldo Adema and Marcel Copini — immediately regrouped, bringing in new drummer Erik Koning. Vocalist Han Uil later joined the quartet to record the lead vocals for an album that was already largely complete. They renamed themselves Seven Day Hunt. But what's in a name? In essence, it was Egdon Heath 2.0. Their 2007 album File This Dream was well received, but Adema and Uil eventually moved on. Mulder, Koning and Copini carried on, working on new material until 2014. Then, silence. Adema and Uil went on to make three albums with TumbleTown.

In 2023, Mulder and Adema found their way back to each other. They began working together again, using previously unreleased material and new compositions by Mulder as their starting point. In early 2025, Koning joined them on drums, while Copini contributed bass to 5 tracks on the new album. Now, thirty years after Nebula, a brand-new Egdon Heath studio album is finally here: 'Spring The Past Alive'. Full of energy, atmosphere, melody and drama. Lyrical, evocative and rich in storytelling. 'Spring The Past Alive' is more than an album title. It describes exactly what they’re doing: breathing new life into the past without trying to turn back the clock. They’re making music that reflects who they are today, combining fresh ideas with deep roots — and, above all, having a great time doing it.

Egdon Heath are back. Although perhaps that's not quite the right way to put it. They've never really been gone. Things just went quiet for a while.
