SOLSTICE
“I loved them then and I love them now... it’s a life affirming, joyous sound” – Steven Wilson
Formed in 1980 in Milton Keynes UK, Solstice is a progressive folk-rock band led by Andy Glass, the band’s sole remaining founding member. Their music is characterised by progressive rock elements, heavy folk, and new age touches. The band has undergone multiple lineup changes but have maintained a consistent vision throughout their history. Solstice’s music has been praised for its beautiful production, great songs, great voices, tricky rhythms, and pic guitar solos.
During their first stint the band released their debut album 'Silent Dance' in 1984 before splitting up in 1985. After a reissue of the album on CD the band regrouped and released two studio albums 'New Life' and 'Circles' and the live-album 'The Cropredy Set'. After that the band went dormant while Andy concentrated on other musical ventures.
In 2007 the band reunited for a second time with 'the Cropredy Set' release on DVD and their complete back catalogue released in a remastered and expanded 'definitive edition' on CD. The studio albums 'Spirit', 'Prophecy' and 'Sia' plus the live album 'Kindred Spirits' followed during the years after.
In 2022 the band released 'Light Up' with which they toured extensively in the Uk and Europe. The show in Veruno was released as 'Live in Veruno'. Another live album followed 2 years later with 'Return To Cropredy'in a CD+BR combo. In 2025 followed by the band 8th studio album 'Clann'. That album was followed quickly by the live album 'Clann: The Gathering Stables'.
The band keeps in close contact with their fans through their 'Guardian' initiative. The Guardians receive exclusive news, apparel and recordings.
